Our Divemaster Internship Program is the perfect opportunity for certified divers who are ready to take their skills to the next level and pursue a rewarding career in the diving industry.

Through this immersive program, you’ll work side-by-side with experienced instructors, gaining hands-on experience in the daily operations of a real dive center. From equipment handling to dive logistics and customer interaction, you’ll develop a strong foundation in every aspect of dive center management.

This program isn’t just about diving — it’s about becoming a well-rounded, knowledgeable, and confident Divemaster, ready to lead and inspire others underwater and beyond.

To join our Divemaster Internship Program, you’ll need to meet the following criteria:

Minimum age of 18
Have completed at least 40 logged dives
Hold a current SSI React Right certification (or equivalent) obtained within the past 24 months
Hold a SSI Stress & Rescue or equivalent certification
Positive, team-oriented, communicative, and an enthusiastic role model both on land and beneath the waves
Physically fit and capable of performing physically demanding task

Eligibility for Beginners

We welcome beginners, including those with Open Water and Advanced Open Water certifications, to apply!

Equipment Information

Participants are required to have their own
basic diving equipment, including:

Mask & snorkel
Fins
Dive Computer
Wetsuit/rash guard suitable for 28-30°C water temp
Surface signalling devices (SMB)
Underwater Compass
Dive knife/cutting tool

Having your own BC and regulator is a plus but not required. We provide essential equipment, including a BC, regulator, and weights; however, availability in your size cannot always be guaranteed. For the best experience and comfort, we strongly recommend investing in a full setup for your Divemaster training.

A 4-Month Journey to Professional Mastery

Our Divemaster Internship is carefully structured to provide both hands-on experience and professional-level training in a real dive center environment.

ℹ️ More Information

Working Hours: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM daily, with a 1-hour break
Night Dive Support: Occasionally, you may be assigned as a “Dry Buddy” to support night dives from shore
Rest Days: One rest day per week is provided. If the schedule is affected due to high demand, an alternative rest day will be arranged during a quieter period

Months 1–3: Dive Centre Immersion

Gain valuable industry insight by working closely with our team. You’ll be actively involved in:

Daily dive centre operations and logistics
Assisting instructors with courses and guided dives
Equipment handling and preparation
Customer service and communication
Learning the rhythm of life at a working dive center
SSI Professional Activation Fee (MYR 510)

This phase helps you develop a solid foundation and understanding of what it means to be a dive professional.

Month 4: Divemaster Training

The final month is focused on official SSI Divemaster training, where you will:

Refine dive skills through structured sessions
Practice guiding certified divers under instructor supervision
Deliver dive briefings and manage group safety
Apply your knowledge in real dive situations
Prepare for professional-level responsibility

After the Internship

Upon successful completion of the program and meeting all course requirements, you will receive your SSI Divemaster Certification — enabling you to:

Terms & Conditions

By enrolling in the Divemaster Internship Program at Juara Scuba Academy (JSA), you agree to the following terms:

Training Material Fee
Upon acceptance into the program, a fee of MYR 1,000 / S$313 / €211 is required to cover the cost of SSI Divemaster training materials
- This amount is refundable upon successful completion of the course.
- If you cancel your training before the agreed duration, the material cost will not be refunded, and you will be charged for any portion of training already completed.
Performance & Participation
- Ongoing participation in training is subject to maintaining a positive work ethic and professional attitude.
- JSA reserves the right to revoke access to training if expectations around productivity, attitude, or conduct are not met.
Non-Completion Policy
In the event the internship is not completed, Juara Scuba Academy reserves the right to recover the training costs incurred during your participation.
